KAYJO - Dimas Delgado

Dimas Delgado has spent nearly 2-1/2 decades in music education. He served 16 years as a high school band director before joining the administrative ranks of music education in 2017. He spent six years as the Instrumental Music Director for Dallas ISD, and joined Irving ISD as Executive Director of Fine Arts in 2022.

Dimas has served as KAYJO’s artistic director since 2018, and we could not be more pleased!

As a college musician, Dimas performed with the top tier of Texas Tech ensembles including the Goin’ Band from Raider Land. He also has a drum corps background, having toured with the Lone Star Drum & Bugle Corps and The Cadets of Bergen County. Dimas was part of the Texas Tech Trombone Choir that won 1st place in the International Trombone Association Trombone Choir competition.

As a high school director, Dimas has led his bands to four UIL state marching contests, placing his bands among the very best in the state. He earned consistent sweepstakes and honor band placements with his concert bands. His jazz bands have garnered many 1st-place rankings at state and national contests. Many of his students have gone on to perform professionally and to teach.

As Director of Instrumental Music, Dimas brought historic success to the Dallas ISD. The district saw exponential growth in superior ratings during his tenure. Dallas ISD band programs saw record enrollment during Dimas’s service.

Dimas earned a Bachelor of Music degree from Texas Tech and a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from the University of North Texas. He is a member of the Texas Music Adjudicators Association and regularly serves as a judge for UIL music. He and his wife Traci have a daughter who will attend Texas Tech next month, and a son in the Boswell High School drumline.
